What's in a Game? : Gaming 101 for Librarians
Students are talking about Dungeons and Dragons, rolling dice online, and high level board games are in more and more libraries. There’s one hang up: not all librarians are “game-y,” or gamers. Learn basics of gaming to connect with students, provide a safe space, build community, and help students practice critical thinking and collaboration while gaming. Learn enough to keep up conversation with your most gamer students (you’ll understand the Crit Roll 20 memes after this!).

Encouraging Student Expression with Multimedia Projects
In 2018, digital information is not limited to the written word. Students use multimedia like Youtube videos and podcasts not just for personal entertainment, but also to conduct research and explore personal interests. This program will highlight successful outcomes of project-based learning with multimedia. Attendees will learn about the basic equipment that was purchased, including green screens, Padcaster units, and condenser mics, and the free apps that were used. Examples of planning materials and student work will be provided and attendees will have a hands-on experience with a green screen.

Meet the Experts
We are expert librarians. No matter how much we think we know, we don't know it all. Skype in the Classroom extends limitless learning from experts around the world. Discover a topic that students are passionate about and connect them with an expert that can share real world experiences and answer their questions. Students eagerly enter the library with the excitement of a mystery Skype phone call with a classroom from around the world, expert in the Amazon Rain Forest, or unique author presentation.
