Empowering Kids to Change the World
Philadelphia, PA
Anna Forrester lives in Philadelphia and writes picture books to inspire children to get out and make change in their worlds. She will be at the conference in Author’s Alley FRIDAY ONLY, and would love to chat with people who are interested in author visits. A former teacher, she presents about bats, citizen science, and being an author. Anna leads writing workshops as well, and right now is looking for classes of upper-elementary students to work with over a more extended period -- via skype and google docs -- on writing about social and environmental issues. Visit her at www.annaforrester.com to learn more and to connect!

Anna’s debut picture book, BAT COUNT: A CITIZEN SCIENCE STORY, came out in 2017. It's a fic-informational story geared towards 2nd to 6th graders that introduces bats, white nose syndrome and the empowering practice of citizen science. BAT COUNT won The 2018 Giverny Award, was included on the CCBC Choices 2018 list, and was named a 2018 Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12 by the National Science Teachers Association and the Children's Book Council. AND, it is on the 2018-19 Keystone State Reading Book Award List!
